DR. PHIL GOOD HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE ADULT BUSINESS AND WHAT GOT YOU STARTED?

My father started a limo service about 11 years ago and he specialized in weddings only. He did not like parties because they trashed the limos, so in 92 I started my own limo service specializing in bachelor parties. Because of the high competition in the D.C. area, I had to come up with a way to attract attention to my limo service. So I started offering exotic dancers with the limo service in a package deal. As you can imagine, the dancers attracted far more business than the limo service. In dealing with many of the top exotic dancers in the D.C. area I was always being asked if I could help them further their career. The best way to help a dancer's career is to get them plenty of exposure, this is mainly done with adult films and magazines. So with a little research I found out about the East Coast Video Show in Atlantic City and the Consumer Electronic Show "CEOs" in Las Vegas. These two shows are where all the big dogs in the industry have an exhibit. I went to both of these shows with some of the dancers, and found out how cut throat this business really is, and the main reason most of the movie makers are in this business is to get laid and make money at the expense of females without putting out a high quality product. One very well known manager offered my girlfriend a big contract deal. He told us she had to move to L.A. and she would be set up with an apartment, car, money, etc. So against my advice she went for it. Of course she got nothing but a room in his house and a food bill. She realized that she was about to get taken advantage of and came back. I had already been on many adult movie sets, so when this happened to my EX-girlfriend I knew all I had to do was be honest, shoot with very high quality equipment, and just be my perverted self.

WHAT IS IT LIKE WORKING ON A " XXX-PHILMS " MOVIE SET?

Unlike most sets, its very fun, its pretty much stress free, we are never "on the clock" everything is shot spur of the moment, so there are no lines to remember, if needed the participants have plenty of time to get to know each other in private, we try to keep no more than 4 people around the shooting area, this makes it easier for the men to get and keep wood. Everyone gets together to talk and share ideas before the camera starts rolling. After the shoot we all go out to eat at nice restaurant, then we have a real big orgy right there in the restaurant. "Just kidding", Maybe Maybe Not.

HOW CAN A GUY GET INTO ADULT FILMS, AND WHY ARE THERE SO FEW?

The best way for a guy to get into porno is to bring a beautiful girl in with him. If the girl you bring in is hot enough, most movie makers will take the chance on filming you and her together. If you do a good enough job, you may have a chance. When I say a good job, I mean being able to get and keep wood and being able to climax on queue. In case it doesn't work out, don't feel bad because only 3 out of 100 people can get and keep wood in front of the camera. The reason there are so few guys in this business is the movie maker has to pay the camera man, sound man, the actress, etc. even if you can't get wood, so they go for the sure bets which are those few you regularly see.

HOW MUCH MONEY DO MOST OF THE ADULT STARS MAKE?

It varies quite a bit from actor to actor and actress to actress. It mainly depends on how much promotion the actor or actress has had, and not how many movies they have done. A male actor starts at around $100 per scene, and usually caps off at about $500 per scene. A female actress starts out at about $300 - $500 for a girl-girl scene and $400 - $700 for a guy-girl scene. Many movie makers make a $1000 per movie deal with an actress, which may include three scenes such as a solo masturbation, a girl-girl, a guy-girl or a guy-girl-girl. These are all averaged numbers and there are many exceptions and additions.

DO YOU THINK THIS BUSINESS EXPLOITS WOMEN?

Only if they let it. A female who chooses to work with the wrong manager can easily be exploited. Especially when the manager convinces the female to do things she would rather not do. Females must remember that this is a business and most movie makers and managers will try to make every last dollar, at any cost. Although all managers and movie makers are not corrupt, they must be cautious. I personally think that main stream fashion modeling exploits women more than adult modeling because females feel inadequate when they are not 5'10" or more and 110 pounds. In adult type modeling there are magazines and videos that praises the woman in all shapes and sizes.

WHAT ABOUT AIDS?

We all have to have AIDS tests every 60 days or less. In addition to having a current AIDS test, all the male actors in my movies, including myself, are required to wear a clear, super sensitive condom that the actor can't even tell he's wearing, and the camera rarely picks up. We do enjoy having fun but would like to be around to continue making movies for many years to come! You'd be surprised how many actors in adult movies are really wearing these clear condoms.

WHAT TURNS YOU ON THE MOST?

Well, anal sex and threesomes are definitely at the top of the list.
